Malawi Airlines Limited is a registered partnership company with shareholding between Malawi Government and Ethiopian Airlines Enterprise. Malawi Airlines is the national flag carrier that operates B737-700 and Q400 Aircrafts having direct flights to regional cities of Johannesburg; Lusaka; Harare, Dar es Salaam; and Nairobi; besides daily domestic flights between Lilongwe and Blantyre. To keep our promise and in line with our growth strategy, the airline intends to recruit;

HEAD OF LEGAL AND HR AND COMPANY SECRETARY

The position holder will be reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

Participates in defining future directions and strategies of the Airline.

Organizing, preparing agendas for and taking minutes of board and management meetings and annual general meetings (AGMs);

Maintaining statutory books, including registers of members, directors and secretaries;
Monitoring changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment and taking appropriate action;

Liaising with external regulators and advisers, such as lawyers and auditors;
Taking responsibility for the health and safety of employees and managing matters related to insurance and property;

Developing and overseeing the systems that ensure the company complies with all applicable codes, in addition to its legal and statutory requirements.

Directs the development and implementation of Malawi human resources strategy within the Company to ensure the successful and timely implementation of the Corporate Strategy.


Directs the establishment of major policies governing all HR functions including recruitment, Human Resources Development, Personnel administration, Medical benefits, transport and general services and Corporate Security in line with company strategies;

Establishes major procedures required to support the Company’s objectives, plans and policies and maintain clear HR vision, goals, objectives, strategies, policies, procedures and action plans commensurate with corporate strategies.

Formulates and directs all initiatives that have come about as a result of the HR strategy.
Ensures the overall operation and day to day activities are properly catered with adequate transport and other facilities.

Make certain that employees are familiar with established rules and regulations and the duties and responsibilities of the job to which each is assigned;

conformity to company, local, regional, international and other applicable safety and security rules, regulations and standards consistently by all employees under his/her jurisdiction.


Qualifications and Work Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Law, or related field of study with eight years of relevant experience in Managerial position of legal and HR administration.

Those with Master’s Degree and with airline experience will have added advantage.

Engagement of external firm to design and implement Public Relations (PR) campaign on the promotion of company services

It plays vital role to promote tourism and trade by providing value for money services to all the destinations it operates to. Malawi Airlines has excellent on-time performance and baggage handling services.

To keep our promise as an airline of choice in the region by providing safe and reliable passenger and cargo transport and in line with our growth strategy, the airline is inviting qualified firms to submit technical and financial proposals for designing and implementing public relations campaign on the promotion of company services.
